Who is responsible for your data

Elsewhere is an independent project operated by Carlota Rebelo Pires in Portugal. Carlota Rebelo Pires is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

Information we collect

When you join the Elsewhere invitation list, we collect:

• the email address you provide;
• the date and time of your signup; and
• a hashed version of your IP address, used to prevent automated abuse and excessive submissions.

We do not currently use advertising trackers, behavioural analytics or profiling.

Why we use your information

We use your email address to send you Elsewhere news, retreat invitations and related announcements. We rely on your consent, which you give when you choose to join the invitation list.

We use limited technical information to protect the website and signup form from misuse. Our legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in maintaining the security and availability of the website.

Who processes your information

The website and invitation database are hosted using Cloudflare services. Cloudflare processes information on our behalf as a service provider. If we introduce an email delivery provider, we will update this policy before using it to send messages.

Service providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we rely on a lawful transfer mechanism such as an adequacy decision or approved standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your email and signup record while you remain subscribed. If you withdraw your consent, we will stop sending messages and retain only the limited information needed to record and respect your preference, handle legal claims and meet applicable obligations.

Security information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to prevent abuse and is then deleted or anonymised.

Your choices and rights

You may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. You may also ask us to access, correct or erase your information, restrict or object to processing, or provide applicable information in a portable format.

To exercise a right, email privacy@elsewhere.bio. We may need to verify that the email address belongs to you before completing a request.

You may also lodge a complaint with Portugal’s data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

Cookies and external links

Elsewhere does not currently use non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary technology to deliver and protect the website.

The website links to Instagram. Visiting that link takes you to a third-party service governed by its own privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or data practices change. The current version and its update date will remain available on this page.
